Ron a very proud Scotsman passed away peacefully at CHSLDSt.Georges.
Even though he spent almost as much of his time in Canada he always considered himself a Scotsman.
He was the son of Alexander Burnett CONNELLY and Amy Mabel Stewart,Husband of the late Mary Kemp.
He is survived by his wife Fryda Goldfinger,and many nieces ,nephews, great and grandgreat nieces and nephews in Canada, USA, UK, Europe, and Australia.
He served a 51/2 year apprenticeship in sheet and metalwork in Dundee and went on to teach the craft to many young people at Conestoga College in Guelph, Humber College in Toronto,as well as in Fife Scotland.
He loved golfing,English football,watching birds soar, waltz music,his Llaso Apso dogs,taking long walks by the river Tay in Dundee and travelling the world.He passed on his love of football to his Canadian family.
He had a marvellous witty sense of humour and was very observant of the world around him.
He worked and taught stained glassworks.After retirement he learned how to work with silver and made some fine pieces of jewelry for himself and his wife.He crafted many bead necklaces of interesting coloure combinations.
The last 5 Year’s of his life with Alzheimer’s Disease robbed him of many pleasures.His last 5 weeks of life were at the CHSLD where he received very kind and compassionate care.Thank you to all the staff on the first floor.
A big thank you to the Alzheimer’s Society for their excellent in home stimulation workers,as well as the group support sessions over the last seven years.Also the Cummings Centre in the earlier stages of his disease
donations in his name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Montreal or the charity of your choice
Funeral service will be held at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex
