Phyllis Elizabeth Reeves (nee Cameron) - Feb 25, 1921 – Dec 30, 2017

Phyllis passed away quietly at home in Westmount, QC at the age of 96. She was born in London, England, to Maurice Leslie Cameron and Doris Lillian (Ross) Cameron.

Phyllis is predeceased by both parents, her brother Ken and her husband William (Bill) Reeves.

During World War II, she served with the Womens’ Auxiliary Royal Air Force in England. There she met her future husband Bill. They came to Montreal in April 1946 and soon after, Phyllis started her career at McGill University, a career that would span four decades of interest in education and learning. She had a keen intelligence and strong independence.

Phyllis had a great appreciation for music and the arts. She loved listening to all types of music, from classical to contemporary with a particular love for jazz. She was an avid reader. She also enjoyed drama, theatre and film.

To the many people who came to know Phyllis, they fondly remember her kindness and thoughtfulness. She had a wonderful sense of humour and loved telling stories that would make others smile and laugh. Phyllis will be missed by her friends.

Many thanks to Dr. Paul Lysy for years of care and compassion. Thanks to all the staff at Place Kensington for their kindness and attention. Thanks to Pierre and his staff of caregivers at Soins Direct for caring for and looking after Phyllis these past years.

A private memorial will be held at a future date. Donations in memory of Phyllis may be made to a charity of your choice or to the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, 1430 Peel Street, Montreal, Quebec, H3A 3T3.
