In Celebration of

Mildred Jane Hueppin nee Roberts Santamaria

February 4, 1937 -  October 27, 2020

Mildred Jane Roberts Santamaria, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 27th 2020, in Montreal Canada. Mildred (“Mil”), was born in Bangalore India; her parents were from then Portuguese Goa, a small state in India on the west coast along the Arabian Sea. She was bold, daring and courageous, having lived through adventures on three continents, before settling in Canada in 1976 where she met the love of her life, Alois - a Swiss man with beautiful blue eyes and a gentle demeanour. She was 83.

Mildred is known for all she did for those around her and for putting others before herself. As a nurse for premature babies at the Royal Victoria hospital, she cared for life’s most precious treasures. A loving sister, she accomplished her fathers wish to keep her family close, by sponsoring the family to Canada and caring for her mother amidst her demanding career. A woman of high standards, she demanded excellence from herself and from those around her. She prioritized the education of her son with countless nights of overtime at the hospital, without a single complaint.

Most of all, we remember her laughter, her love, her spirituality and her intense devotion to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Alois; her son Louis, grandchildren Carmen & Robert, three sisters Hilda, Ivy and Margaret, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Hi Louis,
Really sorry to hear about the loss of your mummy.
I spent just a few times with her, however; each meeting was memorable, and I felt that I knew her for a long, long time. She always smiled and was the perfect host when we visited Montreal a few years ago.
Viva Santamaria 1 & 2 gave us the opportunity to get to know each other a lot better, and brain storming over Marge’s family tree brought fond memories, along with laughter.
Your parents dance gracefully with elegance.
We will all miss her dearly, however; I will always remember her smile .
Please accept our sincere sympathy and we will continue to pray that The Holy Spirit will comfort you all during this difficult time.
Give your children and dad a hug for us, take care of yourself and your family,
Much love,
Rachel and Francis

I know how much you loved breathing exercises in the yoga classes. If I am not teaching it long enough you will remind me to do more. To this date your face flashes in front of my eyes when I am teaching the breathing exercises in the class. Now look who left us breathless. I know in my heart that you are in a better place resting peacefully. Shower your blessings upon us. Louis, I pray that in the midst of your sorrow you find comfort in all the joyful memories shared. In this difficult time you and your family will be love and support to each other.
Much love
