Maureen Chan Lee

November 19, 1923 -  December 12, 2017

Maureen Lee (Chan Shih Kin), age 94, of Westmount, Quebec passed away peacefully on December 30, 2017. She is survived by her sons Gilbert (Rebecca) of Montreal, QC; Carson (Deborah) of Toronto, ON; Gavin (Linda) of Atlanta, GA; Garnet (Joanne) of Montreal, QC; seven wonderful grandchildren: Tina (Dan), Melissa, Shannon, Olivia, Monika, Amanda and Michael; great grandson Thierry and many cousins, nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee, father and mother Mr. and Mrs. Chan Yue Che, brother Chan Yuk Ching and sisters Chan Yeung Tong and Chan Lai Tong (Gracie). Maureen Lee was born on November 19, 1923 in Canton (Guangzhou), China. As a graduate of the prestigious True Light Boarding School, she held many class leadership roles and enjoyed the love of sports. Later as a young adult working and living in Hong Kong, she made her life changing decision to move to Canada to marry and be a loving partner to Arthur Lee, the well-respected co-founder of Wing Hing Lung (Wing Noodles Ltd.) and philanthropist of the Chinese community in Montreal. Mrs. Lee will be best remembered as a generous, devoted, loving matriarch and as in her own life, was always encouraging and supportive of pursuing and living one’s dreams and ambitions.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Jewish General Hospital for their wonderful care and to those who have extended their thoughts and prayers.

Resting at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Foret, Outremont, QC H2V 2P6, Mrs. Lee’s visitation will be on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. On the following day, Saturday, January 6, 2018, a service in her memory will be held in the Funeral Complex Chapel from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montreal Chinese Hospital Foundation, Chinese Family Service of Greater Montreal or Jewish General Hospital Foundation.
