On May 17th 2022, Mario passed away peacefully at the Jewish General Hospital with his immediate family by his side. He is survived by his children Gianpaolo and Nadia, ex-wife Laila Trak, grand-daughter Jezebel, sister Edda, nieces Luciana and Lara, and nephews Bruno and Gaetano.
Born in Vienna in 1940, Mario lived in Austria and Italy before moving to Montreal with his family as a teenager where he developed a lifelong passion for bodybuilding, renovation and doing things with his hands. Charming, handsome, curious and fluent in five languages, he could mingle in any crowd and was sure to always leave a memorable impression. His kind smile, big heart and quirky sense of humour will be missed by all those who knew him.
On June 2nd, his family will receive condolences at 3 PM, followed by a chapel service at 4 PM, and a reception in celebration of his life from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont.
The family extends its deepest gratitude to all the healthcare workers at the Jewish General Hospital Intensive Care Unit and Orthopedics Department, Mount Sinai Hospital and at the unité de récupération fonctionnelle Le Glenmount.

Le 17 mai 2022, Mario est décédé paisiblement à l'Hôpital général juif entouré de sa famille. Il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants Gianpaolo et Nadia, son ex-conjointe Laila Trak, sa petite-fille Jezebel, sa sœur Edda, ses nièces Luciana et Lara et ses neveux Bruno et Gaetano.
Né à Vienne en 1940, Mario a vécu en Autriche et en Italie avant de déménager à Montréal avec sa famille pendant son adolescence, où il a développé une passion pour la musculation, la rénovation et le bricolage. Charmant, beau, curieux et parlant couramment cinq langues, il pouvait se mêler aisément à n'importe quelle foule et laissait toujours une impression mémorable. Son doux sourire, son grand cœur et son sens de l'humour absurde manqueront à tous ceux qui l'ont connu.
Le 2 juin, la famille recevra les condoléances à 15 h, suivi d'un service en chapelle à 16 h et d'une réception en sa mémoire de 17 h à 19 h au Complexe funéraire Mont-Royal, situé au 1297 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont.
La famille remercie tous les travailleurs de la santé du service des soins intensifs et d'orthopédie de l'Hôpital général juif, de l'Hôpital Mont-Sinaï et de l’unité de récupération fonctionnelle Le Glenmount.
