Margaret Walker
1928-2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our aunt, Margaret Walker at the Verdun General Hospital on May 6, 2017 at the age of 89.

Born in Georges River, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late John and Ann (McDougall) Walker.

She is survived by her loving nephews, Tom Jesty London Ont., Kevin Jesty Glace Bay N.S. and Dave Jesty(Susan) Calgary; and grandchildren Madeleine, Liam, Sarah and Alyson.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Mary Jesty (Cameron) Glace Bay and brothers Peter Walker Toronto and Daniel Walker Sydney N.S.

Peg, as her family called her, moved to Montreal from her native Cape Breton in the 1960’s to work for Eaton’s, the iconic department store. She spent most of her summer vacations in Cape Breton, often after a long drive with her brother, Peter.

She was a very involved parishioner of St Patrick’s Basilica, Montreal. After taking early retirement from Eaton’s, Margaret, became a catechist with St. Patrick’s Faith First group, teaching the young about God and preparing them for their First Communion and Confirmation. She was also, a well-known member of the Legion of Mary.

She had friends throughout the City having lived on St Marc Street, St Antoine Street West and at her beloved retirement home in Verdun.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Basilica (460 René-Lévesque Blvd W, Montreal, QC H2Z 1A7) on Saturday June 17th, 2017 at 3pm.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mountroyalcem.com

Entered May 25, 2017 from Montreal

I remember Margaret well for her feisty personality and wry sense of humour.....I taught her a little about computers one year and often met her at the St. Antoine Centre during their luncheons.

She struck me as a steadfast and loyal person and I'm sure she will be missed by many. My
condolences to her family.
