Margaret died peacefully at Chateau Westmount on May 22, 2018. Wife of Charles McCaig, sister of Helen, Ann and Alastair, Margaret had a long and happy life. Born in Winnipeg, she moved to Toronto when she married, and then to Montreal. When her husband retired, they set up a successful antique furniture store in Beaconsfield –The Pine Shop. After Charles’ death the shop was given up and Margaret moved into Montreal.

She was an outgoing and thoughtful member of her church and an active volunteer at the Montreal General Hospital for many years. She will be greatly missed for her sense of fun and friendship by those who knew her, and especially by her nephew Jack Mitchell and his wife Ilse, of Ottawa.

Appreciative thanks are extended to the staff, and Dr. Lysy, at both Place Kensington and Chateau Westmount where she was cared for most kindly for many years. Special gratitude is expressed to Naima El Ouaret who was ‘her Naima’, and their bond was very close for 27 years.

A service to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held on May 30, 2018, at 11:00 am at The Church of St Andrew and St Paul, corner of Redpath and Sherbrooke.
