In Celebration of

Lydia "Yoke Lin" Cheong (nee Wong)

March 9, 1928 -  September 29, 2017

After 64 years of marriage and in her 89th year, Lydia, beloved wife of Cheong Pak Chow, loving sister of Yoke Lan (John) and Peter (Margaret), devoted mother to Peter (Amanda), Philomena (Kuan Shin), Paul (Christina), Patricia, Patrick (Esther), Petronella, Pius (Kay) and Philip (Li-Hsien), and affectionate grandmother to Alexander (Alexandra), Natasha, Catherine, Lindsay, Kimberly (Rajiv), Olivia, Brendan, Jeremy, Nicholas, Edwina (Mike), Darren and Connor, passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones in Montreal on September 29th, 2017.

Lydia was born in Singapore in 1928 to Agnes Chan Ah Choy and Dato Wong Siew Qui, and was granddaughter of Wong Ah Fook. In 1975, Canada became her new home where she quickly developed admirable skills as a homemaker and excelled in the culinary arts. Dinner parties that she and Pak Chow hosted were coveted affairs. Her passion in faith and religious convictions were central to her well lived life; visiting the Holy Land was one of its highlights. Lydia was a remarkable teacher of integrity and compassion to her children, and was always positive in the face of adversity. She will be fondly remembered for her love of life’s lighter side, her innate humility, candor and unassuming wit, and, her baffling propensity to win at Mah-jong and Dominoes.

Lydia was dearly loved by all of us and will be sadly missed. Rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon you.

Family will receive condolences at Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, QC H2V 2P9, on Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be in the chapel of the funeral complex on Thursday, October 5th, 2017 at 1 p.m. follow by a burial at Mount Royal Cemetery.

Please accept my condolences on the death of your wife, mother, grandmother and friend. It's by accident that I came across this notice, and having known Pak Chow for many years, I am grieved by his and the family's loss.
