In Celebration of

Lillian Grace Melrose (nee Dick)

December 11, 1922 -  November 5, 2017

A life-long resident of Montreal, died Sunday the November 5th, 2017 at Vigi Santé DDO. Until very recently, she lived at Manoir Kirkland; her family are extremely grateful to the staff of the residence who provided great care, particularly over the past few months.

Born December 11, 1922, Lillian received a teaching degree from MacDonald College. She taught art at Mount Royal High School in the 1950’s and after time off when her children were young, she went back to teaching at various elementary schools in Ville St. Laurent.

Lillian loved to travel and was fortunate to visit many exciting places after retiring, usually traveling with her sister Margaret. She spent many happy summers at the cottage on Lac des Seize Iles, a place her father bought the year she was born. It was there that she developed a life-long enjoyment of swimming. During the winter, she enjoyed going to movies and plays with friends.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Jane and Ian (Elena), her grandsons, Devon (Vanessa), Justin and Jaydan and her sister Margaret Dick. She was predeceased by her husband, John Craik Melrose and her sister, Phyllis Estall.

Family will receive condolences at Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, QC H2V 2P9 on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. A service will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the complex. Burial to take place at Mount Royal Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
