John Arthur Madill

October 17, 1920 -  September 26, 2017

Passed away peacefully at the Wales Home. Born in Montreal he was educated at Westmount High and McGill University. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce he joined the Artillery and fought in World War 2 primarily in Italy. Returning to Montreal with the designation of Captain he completed his C.A. and joined the firm of Winspear, Higgins, Stevenson now Deloitte. Art was married to the late Eleanor Forbes and is survived by Diane (late Peter McLernon), Jennifer and Kenneth as well as his grandchildren Robin, Kenneth and James McLernon and Charlotte and Isabella Madill. Art was also the Attorney in Canada to Lloyd’s of London. This aspect of his career gave him tremendous satisfaction allowing him much travel and the opportunity to meet and form strong friendships abroad. He sat on a number of Boards including Dominion Douglas Church, now Mountainside, North Hatley Club, President of the Irish Protestant Benevolent Society and was a Trustee of St. Barnabas Church and the Mount Royal Cemetery. His final years were spent at the Wales Home and we would like to acknowledge Pam, Brenda, Joey and Rhoda in particular for their care and kindness. A private family burial will take place.
