It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jan Carl Spaniel at the age of 88. True father to his son Paul and daughter Nima; loving grandfather to Joseph, Kayla, Norah and Theo. Born in Prague to Oldrich and Kamila. He spoke many languages and when working for the Associated Press escaped the communist regime and made Montreal his home in 1951. He was a hard working devoted and loved father, whose many great passions included travel, soccer, arts and culture, fine cuisine, and sharing a good laugh. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s, MUHC, and especially Lev-Tov Senior Residence. A memorial will be held at Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 chemin de la Foret, Outremont, H2V 2P9 on Friday, November 24th at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant House Toronto, or a charity of your choice.
