Passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 13, 2018. Predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth Gebranzig and Erich Rippka. Devoted, loving wife of the late Alfred Louis Wayne. Beloved mother of Esther Wayne Howes and Frank and Irene Petri. Cherished Granny to Austin and Tessa Howes.

Born December 9, 1928, in Königsberg, East Prussia, Germany, Ingrid was educated in Vienna prior to the outbreak of World War II. She survived the invasion of Königsberg in 1945 by relying on a combination of intelligence, resourcefulness, and good fortune. Having settled in Frankfurt following the war Ingrid moved to Montreal in 1957, which would be her home for the next 61 years.

A private burial was held at Mount Royal Cemetery, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, on April 17th at 10 am.

Ingrid’s family wishes to express their endless gratitude for her many caregivers at Place Kensington Residence in Westmount, Montreal.

Ingrid was loved, admired, and an inspiration to many. Her positive outlook and strength of character defined her to the end of her life. She will be sadly missed by her family, whom she made incredibly proud.

Ingrid's family request that donations be made to the Canadian Red Cross and Les Amis de la Montagne.
