In Celebration of

Hubert Drumbl

January 17, 1927 -  December 26, 2019

It is with great sadness and very positive memories that we announce the passing of our husband, father, father-in-law, grand-father, and great-grandfather Hubert Drumbl, 92, of Côte St Luc, Montréal, after a brief but intense illness. Hubert was born on January 17, 1927. He grew up in Austria and immigrated to Canada in 1951, settling in Montréal, very excited about his new home and always fond of his childhood experiences. Hubert began as a mechanic at Cook Toledo Motors, then became a small-business owner, and spent the last 25 years in a terrifically joyful retirement. He led a full, generous, vibrant, and healthy life. Hubert loved building things, fixing things, and caring for things. He spent much weekend time over many decades at a lovely country-house at Highwater in the Eastern Townships. Hubert is survived by his devoted wife and life-partner of 68 years, Irma Drumbl; his daughter Dagmar Loiselle and son-in-law Jean-Pierre Loiselle, of Mont St. Hilaire, Québec; his son Mark Drumbl and daughter-in-law Michelle Drumbl of Lexington, Virginia, USA; along with four grandchildren, Melanie Loiselle of Whitby, Ontario; Tiffany Colannino of Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA; and Paul and Luke Drumbl of Lexington, Virginia, USA; two grandsons-in-law, Shane and Justin; three great-grandchildren, Aurora, Peter, and Patricia Colannino; and extended family overseas in Austria. We will miss him greatly. His family, along with friends, and friends of family, celebrate his life as he wonderfully lived it, admire his patience and his strength, and remain grateful for the gift of memories and inspiration that he bequeaths to us all. He remains a very bright and special guiding light. Special thanks to the nurses at St Mary’s Hospital and to Father Gerald Wesphahl from St. Boniface Church. The family will receive condolences at 1 pm on Friday, January 10, 2020, followed by a Mass and memorial service at 2 pm, at Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, Québec (514) 279-6540, www.mountroyalcem.com. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Canadian Cancer Society. Mit Liebe, Hubert!!; and wishes for peace and beauty on your ongoing journey.
