Died- Montreal, Canada February 16, 2023

After a long struggle, Helmut passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 16. Survived by children Ingrid and Walter, granddaughters Claudia and Charlotte, as well as friends and family in Germany, Canada, and the US. The family wishes to thank the many dedicated health care professionals who cared for our father- Dr Odelia Borten, Dr Laurence Green, Dr Annette Granich, Dr Wendy Chiu, Dr Susan Lindley, as well as the staff of the Coronary Care Unit at the Montreal General Hospital, where Helmut was a "frequent flyer". The last years of Helmut's life were made as comfortable as possible by his wonderful team of caregivers- Sarah, Maria, Remedois, Belinda, Roena, Jocelyn, Judy and Renan. Thanks also to the staff at the Vista Residence.

Visitation will take place Saturday March 11 at the Mount-Royal Funeral Complex at 10am to be followed by memorial service and reception. Online condolences can be sent on website of Mount Royal Funeral Complex. In lieu of flowers, donations to the CCU, Montreal General Hospital or to MSF ( Doctors without Borders) for the relief of war victims in Ukraine would be greatly appreciated.
