In Celebration of

Helen Mary Reany (nee Eckhardt)

May 4, 1926 -  February 4, 2017

REANY Helen Mary
(née Eckhardt) 1926-2017

Passed away suddenly and peacefully with family by her side at Sunnyside Nursing Home on Saturday, February 4th, 2017 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Lawrence Richard Reany for over 50 years. Loving mother to Linda (deceased), Gary (June), Brian (deceased), Kim (Vince) and Laurie. Proud grandmother to Sean, Ian, Blair, Devin, Megan & Dylan. Great-Grandmother to Joshua and Nina. Sister of the late Douglas Eckhardt (Mamie). Sister-in-law to Margaret Reany.

Helen grew up in Montreal, QC, under the loving care of her Aunt Florence and Uncle Fred, (grandma and grandpa to Linda, Gary, Brian, Kim and Laurie) following the death of her parents. Helen lived in Dorion, QC until she moved to Kitchener, ON in 2001. Helen was generous and kind to everyone and had many friends and honorary daughters. Helen was an expert baker and every occasion was blessed with an abundance of her delicious treats. Helen had a special place in her heart for her four legged friends and her cat Buddy will be sad without her.

Thank you to the many nurses and personal support workers who cared for her during her time at Sunnyside Home. Special thanks to Aisha who spent one-on-one time with Helen and showered her with love and compassion.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Montreal on Friday, May 5th, 2017 at Blythe Bernier Funeral Home, 940 Ogilvy Avenue, Montreal, Quebec, H3N 1P4. Visitation 10am to 12pm, service 12pm, reception at 1pm. Burial of ashes to follow at Mount Royal Cemetery, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, Quebec, H2V 2P9.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or the KW Humane Society.

Our broken hearts can begin to mend knowing her journey continues with her husband, soulmate and love of her life, “Larry”, hand in hand, together...forever and a day.

Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

I was so sorry to learn that Helen passed away. I will never forget all the fond memories of our times together. She was always a smiling figure at the dinner table or at her grandchildren's life events. She had a grand sense of humour and her love for people was only surpassed by her love for animals and sports and of course her family; Daughters, Sons and Grandchildren.. She was well loved and loved many. I will miss her.
Those who love us never go away. I hope you know that even during this dark time, Helen will always be with you in spirit and in your hearts.
All my love...

Mrs Reany (as I called her) holds a special place in my heart. She always made me feel welcome as part of her family. She touched my life in a profound way. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace now, you have done more than your share. I have many found memories of you that will live on in my heart.

A lovely lady with a beautiful smile and spirit. May the memories you created with your family and friends bring them solace as they move forward with their lives without your physical presence.
