HARRY THOMAS HOY

January 26, 1925 - February 1, 2019

Harry passed away peacefully at the Hawkesbury General Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 73 years Bernice Grant, his daughter; Diane (d. John Scholefield), his sons; Robert, Richard (Kelly Doherty), his 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Harry, the youngest of 4 children was pre-deceased by his 2 sisters; Alice Moussette, Doris Paradis, his brother Clarence, and his son Kenneth.

Harry was a self-made man with an innate business sense. As the head of a successful car dealership he was deeply involved in the Montreal automotive industry. His steadfast nature ensured that he accomplished anything he set his mind to. He excelled in sports well into his senior years and was notably involved in the Montreal NHL Old Timers. Harry was passionate about the great outdoors and enjoyed many adventures flying his own airplanes to remote hunting and fishing camps. A creator in his own right, Harry embraced the challenge of constructing roads, stone walls, and all types of buildings. A dedicated family man above all else, he was never happier than when surrounded by his loved ones. He adored the children in his life and took every opportunity to share his passions with them, whether it be on the ski slopes, the golf course or in the drivers’ seat of a bulldozer. He was an exceptional individual who lived life to the fullest. He was a generous man who shared freely of his time and experience. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.

Our family would like to extend our thanks to Dr. Christian Gagne and the compassionate team of the Emergency and Palliative Care Departments of the Hawkesbury General Hospital.

Visitation will be held April 6th from 2pm to 5pm and April 7th from 1pm to 2pm.

A celebration of Harry’s life will be held on April 7th at 2pm at the Belverdere Funeral Complexe in Senneville.

John and I truly miss seeing all the”Hoys” on Winifred Way! It was truly inspiring to see such a loving, caring family and how you all interacted with each other. And it was a 14 year friendship we will always cherish.. Harry will be sincerely missed by all who knew him.
He was truly a wise, soft spoken, gentle giant of a man with a big heart.

Harry Hoy was to me a person who was determined in his life to achieve a goal. That is what he did, and never did he act in an inappropriate way to get to where he wanted to go. He achieved so many levels of success with his business, as he had a good straight rapport with all people. He was obviously keen on Sports as were his children and that ruled a great deal of their Living Style ...golf, tennis, skiing just to name a few. He was a unique individual that had a wonderful life as an entrepreneurial person who gave his family such a great lifestyle. God Bless Harry - your family are lucky to have had you at the Helm. They are very proud to be your children. You left a great Legacy Harry - please Rest in Peace! Sue Quarles (and Henry Andres)

What a lucky family and a fine life! No one can say that Mr. Hoy wasn't anything but generous and loving, of course, those ideals were passed along to his fine children and what a lucky woman his wife, Mrs. Hoy was. I celebrate the life of a great man in Mr. Hoy. Rest peacefully, sir.

It is always sad to say goodbye. We will miss Harry. For over 40 years we have felt almost like part of the family. Harry was always so generous and welcoming with his friends, so dedicated to his family, and so creative in all that he did. He accomplished so much and influenced so many lives.
Our condolences to Bernice, Diane, Rick & Kelly, Bobby, all the kids and grandkids. Harry will remain as an inspiration for a life well lived.
