My work involves the accompaniment of aging-related decline and exploring what efforts can be made to mitigate the less pleasant effects. After my assessment of Mr Griffith in his home, I had a spring in my step I have never experienced in 25 years of social work. I had just met a person who was able to absorb the mournful and difficult memories of a life filled with unique challenges, now faced with the challenges involved in aging, and do the thing he knew helped him cope best, which was... to dance? Dance! Did he know what a positive effect that had on those who witnessed it? How was I not to feel better, lighter, richer and happier after meeting him?
I wish to express my condolences to his family, and my gratitude to his memory for The Zen lesson he was.
I’m so sorry about his passing but I know he’s definitely going to a better place. He was a wonderful person with a great sense of humour!!!
I’ll never forget what he did to a guy at one of your famous family’s house party!!! It’s ingrained in my memory forever…
He will be honoured & remembered always
Alice
