In Celebration of

George Nikola Ilkich

March 27, 1959 -  March 3, 2021

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of George Nikola Ilkich in the early morning of Wednesday, March 3, 2021 surrounded by his loving family after a brief but courageous and valiant battle with cancer. He was 61 years old.

The beloved son of the late Nikola and Marija Ilkich, he leaves this world with a positive thought and love for all his family and friends who have brought him joy and hope throughout his life.

He was a loving and kind hearted person with an infectious sense of humor that never failed to make a person laugh. His many passions included music where he played many of instruments starting from the age of twelve, writing, reading science fiction novels, fishing (George you can now catch your biggest fish with mom and dad by your side), the outdoors, and his love for gardening.

He is survived by his children Melissa (Chris), Nick (Amber), Stefani (Adam), his two precious grandchildren Lily and Anthony, and his much loved and adored former wife Andrea Glad.

Deeply missed and fondly remembered by his brother Steve, sister-in-law Suzi Glad, and their children Sabastijan, Anton, and Justinijan, with whom he held the closest of bonds. My beautiful Bracs, I miss you and will forever hold the greatest of memories of us growing up and the precious times we spent together.

He will also be remembered by his extended family and many friends.

We would like to extend our thanks to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff of 4 - Main (palliative care unit) at the Jewish General Hospital for the support and compassion shown to George and our family which helped us tremendously through these challenging few months.

In lieu of flowers, George expressed his wish for donations to be made in his memory to the Montreal Children’s Hospital (Glenn) which is an Ilkich family tradition, as well as, to the Jewish General Hospital, Palliative Care Unit “In Memory of George Nikola Ilkich”.

We encourage all who knew him to share their stories and memories of George in the online guest book.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private service will take place on Saturday March 27, 2021 his 62nd birthday.

George holds a very special place in my heart and I will forever be grateful to him! The memories of our youth, all the fun and adventurous times we’ve shared will never be forgotten. He was the most simplest loving person, always encouraged everyone to better themselves. His passion for music inspired all ages, brought a lot of joy and happiness to many. His devotion to his family was a priority and he was loved by everyone!
Taken away too soon, you will be deeply missed!

Počivaj u Miru, neka ti je Laka Zemlja🙏
