I grew up in Montreal and became close friends with the Kent family. During summers at Riviere Beaudette, Doreen became my second mother as I grew through my teens and into my university years. I enjoyed countless Sunday dinners savouring her Yorkshire Pudding, and enjoyed constant laughs around the Kent household. Sometimes there was even the the occasional scolding, which she would not hesitate to dish out if warranted. Doreen was a great person, a unique character, and a compassionate friend. She told a good joke (a bit salty at times), had strong principles, and was intensely loyal and devoted to her family and friends, of which I am honoured to have been one. She put her words together beautify in handwritten notes, and I still have one she wrote to me many years ago when one of my own family members died. It is with deep sadness I process that Doreen is gone, but with a smile about good times past. Fair winds Doreen. "Now Ethyl, the next time I see him, do I have to curtsy?"

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. I remember always running down to your parents place on Roslyn Avenue whenever I had a disagreement with my late parents. Both your mom and dad welcomed me into the house. It was my home away from home.
I am very honored to have known both your mom and dad and how important family and family values were.
Keeping your mom and your late dad in my thoughts...

My darling cousin Doreen. Always such fun, so full of life and laughter. She was my wonderful godmother. I will miss her very much
So saddened by the news of Doreen's passing.
