In Celebration of

Deolinda Pereira nee Furtado

March 27, 1932 -  May 24, 2021

Mrs Deolinda Furtado passed peacefully into the night at Teresa dellar residence at the young age of 89.
Beloved wife to the late Jose Moniz Pereria and late daughter Fátima Furtado Moniz Pereira. She will be Sadly missed by her sons Joao Luis Moniz Furtado Pereria (yannick) and Jose Manuel Furtado Moniz Pereira (Sandra) . She leaves behind her beloved grandson Justin Pereira, whom she adored. Born in Ribeira das Tainhas, a civil parish in the municipality of Vila Franca do Campo, in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. Mom had a love of Fado and even sang as a young woman on the local radio. An accomplished pattern maker and seamstress, music and fashion was her passion. When her late daughter passed she struggled to move on, her deep spirituality and faith in god rekindled her faith. She would often say her 2 year old helped her find a reason for living. She always had kind words for strangers, especially those in need. Mom was an introvert but loved people, her gentle smile captivated many hearts. Her Family was her pride and joy but she fiercely knew how to set boundaries. A strong willed woman and a feminist at heart. Mom loved gardening which she took on when she had her cottage. Above all she was our mom , our hero and made us proud everyday of her life. Rest in peace mom till we meet again. Love always yours boys...

She was well versed in Popular Culture. Colorful conversations on everything Hollywood (Stars, Scandals, Ceremonies) and her opinions on them will be missed.
I will never forget an afternoon we binge-watched "Gene Simmons Family Jewels"
We laughed Recklessly. Yes. She was Cool.
A witty tongue that Amused. A big Heart that Welcomed.
Farewell Great Aunt.
I bid you Adieu.
Till me meet Again.
Love Always,
Steven De Melo
