Corneliu Mihail Sitaru

September 18, 1948 - February 2, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Corneliu (Blitz) Sitaru on 02/02/2022, at the age of 73, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. He was kind and hard working, always having in mind a new project. Passionate about nature, he loved to spend time outdoors, winters in Lorraine, Canada and summers in his birth town of Campulung Muscel, Romania. An eternal optimist until the end, his personal motto was "Never Give Up!". His determination will always be an inspiration to us all.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved spouse of 32 years, Daniela (Dana) Enciu, his dear son, Val (Marie-Eve), his precious grandchildren Milan and Lee, former wife Donca, colleagues and business partners, friends and extended family.

In living memory of Blitz, his family will be planting trees as a tribute to him, in support of reforestation efforts in Canada through A Living Tribute. I have known Blitz for 23 years since 1999. We had been working closely on software projects for decades. He was more than a business partner but a great mentor and long trusted friend. Lots and lots of good memories with him that I will not forget. To name a few:
1. We had lunch decades ago during when a bee landed on the table. I was about to smash it but he gently lifted it up and let it fly with a warm smile on his face. He truly appreciated life.
2. The first time he served me a home-made pea soup and pasta lunch in a condo apartment in Montreal in 1999. We spent the whole day on a business where his programming flare shined.
3. Blitz’s favorite song was “One night in Bangkok”. His dream was to experience it someday. I mocked him along the years that actions speak louder then words and sincerely wished him to make it happen.
4. Secret phrases in Mandarin between Blitz, Val and I:
a. ‘Beijing Fan Dian Ba’: It means ‘Let’s go to Beijing Hotel’. He picked up this phrase when he was missioned by Romania to share computer knowledge with peers in China in the 70’s.
b. ‘Cong-Da-Chu-Kang’: I taught him this. Its means ‘Let’s consider the big picture’. This was frequently brought up during the early years when we ventured together on software projects.
5. The mid-autumn festival dinner we had at Blitz house. I brought along moon cakes to celebrate. Different cultures met in harmony.
6. Blitz and Dana joined me and my wife for lunch at Mont Tremblant in a fine summer day. It was filled with joy and laughter.
7. Blitz gave us rides on his beloved BMW (great-grand-dad from the 70’/80’s…LOL). Amazingly, the engines still cranked.
8. Sharing cigars with Blitz and his team members 20+ years ago in a business meeting
9. Blitz being a steak lover…100% well done.
10. Last but not least, the shinny and revolving disco ball at the ceiling in his office. He even turned it on for me in one of our meetings.

He will stay in my mind for a long time...

Blitz's disappearance is a great pain for me. He was my wonderful friend from my youth and maturity. We dreamed together, we made big plans, we decided to emigrate together. Life separated us, but he was there, somewhere, happy because he knew how to build his dreams. And now, when he is gone, the beauty of youth and friendship is gone. Condolences to the family.
