In Celebration of

Christina (née Horge) Di Nunzio

September 14, 1962 -  July 9, 2022

With extraordinary sadness we announce the passing of Christina Di Nunzio (née Horge) on Saturday, July 9th 2022.

Christina was the devoted wife to Tom Di Nunzio, her husband of 38 years, loving mother to Stephen (Christina), Pamela (Adam), and Andrew, and the most happy, enthusiastic and energetic grandmother to Claire, Elizabeth, and Sophie.

She was the most caring daughter of Olga Senkus (Horge) and the late William Horge, loving sister of Philip and Peter (Ruta), cherished daughter-in-law to Mario and Antonietta Di Nunzio, sister-in-law to Rosa (Dan), aunt to Antonietta (Kevin), Marcy (Paul), and Olivia, and great-aunt to Rosemary and Mario.

Born on September 14th 1962 in LaSalle, Quebec, Christina grew up as an active member of the Ukrainian community, enjoying Ukrainian dancing and mastering cultural traditions of pysanky, paska making, and her famous Ukrainian Christmas bread, traditions she has passed along to her family and friends. At the age of 16, she met her soul mate and very best friend Tom, and began planting the seeds of this relationship which would grow and prosper throughout her lifetime. Through Tom, Christina developed a love for the Italian language and cuisine, becoming a treasured member of the Di Nunzio and Ranalli families.

A graduate of the McGill University School of Nursing, Christina was appreciated by colleagues and patients, and left a particular mark throughout her community practice where she guided new parents through prenatal courses and post-natal follow-ups with exceptional care. Later she partnered with her husband to grow their business in the food service and hospitality industry. She became an esteemed colleague who always payed attention to detail and made every person she interacted with feel important and listened to.

Throughout all walks of life, Christina developed exceptional and long-lasting friendships. She cared for those around her through meaningful actions and inspired the people around her to become the best version of themselves. Christina was a remarkable woman. She shared her joy for movement, nature, paddle boarding, ocean waves, cross-country skiing, skating, dancing, good food, smiles, and family with all those around her.

Christina is remembered for her ability to create a wonderful conversation with every person she met, her energetic voice, her never-ending curiosity, her courage to always learn and try new things, her incredible joie de vivre, her resilience, and most of all for her fierce desire to live.

Christina’s friends and family cannot express how profoundly she will be missed.

Heartfelt appreciation is extended to the Jewish General Hospital Gyneco-oncology team and to the staff on the K9 floor for their care and compassion.

Visitation will take place on Thursday July 14th from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Belvedere Cemetery and Funeral Complex in Senneville.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday July 16th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas à Becket Parish in Pierrefonds.

To honour Christina’s legacy, donations can be made to the Morgan Arboretum in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, her place of peace and health, and to St. Thomas à Becket Parish through which she was a proud member of the Angels of Mercy project and contributor to the Becket Food Pantry.

Her memory will live in our hearts always.
