Anita Fochs Heller died suddenly on May 16, 2018. She is survived by her daughter Monica (Jeremy Paltiel) and son Julian (Ronni Brott), grandchildren Natalie Kaiser (Steve Richter), Nicolas Kaiser, Jake, Alexander and Andrée Heller, as well as her sister Natalie Isaacs (Harvey Yarosky) and cousin Sabine Jakubovic. She is predeceased by her husband Irving Heller, by Eric Poznansky, and by her siblings John Foch and Yvonne Knight (Allan Knight). She was the daughter of Godfrey and Eugenia Fochs. She leaves behind many nephews, nieces, in-laws, relatives and friends, of whom she was very fond. She will also be deeply missed by her dear long-time friend Joyce Cato.
She escaped Germany by way of Switzerland and France and arrived in Canada in June, 1940. She graduated first in her class at Westmount High School. At McGill University, she received the gold medal for her B.Sc., followed by an M.Sc. in parasitology, and an M.A. in sociology. Anita was a founding member of the McGill Institute for Learning in Retirement. She was committed to education, knowledge and family throughout her life.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 1 pm at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, Québec H2V 2P9.
