Alexandra Kostarakis (nee Karkatzoulis). It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Alexandra on Tuesday, February 9th, 2021, at the Montreal General Hospital. Alexandra was predeceased by her beloved husband Theodoros, and son Stavros (Steve).

Left to cherish in her memory is her son Costa (Angela), daughter Martha (George), her grandchildren Maria (Guillaume) and Alexandra (Ian), sisters Eleni (Vasilis) and Fotini (late George), as well as her many relatives and friends in Canada, the U.S., and Greece.

A private viewing will be held on Monday, February 15th, 2021 between 8:30 am to 9:30 a.m. at Blythe Bernier Funeral Home, 940 Ogilvy Avenue, Montreal, (514) 495-8082. This will be followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral service at Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church, 777 St. Roch Street, Montreal. Due to the restrictions imposed in regards to Covid-19 only a small list of invited guests will be allowed to attend.

The family expresses its deep gratitude for the many years of medical care provided by Dr. Andreas Giannakis, the exceptional and supportive service of her caregiver Nicoletta Makris, and the kindness and professionalism demonstrated by the staff at the Montreal General Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Montreal General Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit https://www.mghfoundation.com/en/donate-now/give-today/, or Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church (514) 273-9767.

Dear Costa and Angela, please receive my deepest condolences on your mom's passing, extended to your sister and her family, grandchildren and friends. May the memories of her life, cherished moments with all of you, her example and love be a blessing. In beginning to live with her absence, one can only be grateful to God for her life, for the gift of having her for all those years. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and I will be there in spirit on the 15th.

Our sympathies are with you Costa. We pray that you were able to see her somewhat frequently over the past few months.

Losing a loved one is devastating, more so when it is part of the immediate family. Many times, these events raise emotions inside of us that cover a wide gamut of colors, from the very darkest to the hopeful brightest. We can only hope and pray that you and your family lean towards and navigate towards the brightness. Walk alongside the memories that are bright and didactic, and that help you find strength and confidence in a somewhat Aristotelean modification of a Pythagorean maxim to "cease pursuit of discovering what life, blessings, and happiness mean, because the answer is already inside of us". It is the love we hold for everyone who walked alongside of us and made us a better and more giving person. Even with their imperfections in our eyes, parents are the summit of those who walked alongside of us.

Koula and I send our deepest condolences, with our prayers for you, your family to be strong in health and in your service to others always.

Ο Θεός να δώσει την Ανάπαυση, και να την θυμόσαστε.
