In Celebration of

Agnes Vickers

April 20, 1922 -  May 19, 2018

VICKERS, Agnes. April 20, 1922 – May 19, 2018. Agnes passed away peacefully, with many of her children and grandchildren by her side, in Montreal, at the age of ninety-six. The third of seven children, she was born and raised in Montreal, though she would live all over Canada.

Agnes had thirteen children and countless grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceased by Vivian, Beverley, George, Alison and Philip, she leaves to mourn Edward, Robert, Donald, Barry, John, Agnes, Richard and Stephen. Beloved and devoted grandmother to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Agnes was a pillar of strength, truly the matriarch of her family. She dedicated her entire life to caring for and loving her children and grandchildren. She devoted her life to caring for others; in her younger years she spent time working with the elderly in nursing homes, taught Sunday school and would often take in and feed animals that needed care. Agnes will be remembered by her family for her love of painting and gardening, the time she spent knitting blankets for her grandchildren, and the countless hours spent playing cards and doling out motherly advice to loved ones. Agnes was the one to confide in about life’s challenges; she was always thoughtful and honest with her support.

Agnes was as tough as they come; she overcame many trials and tribulations, and was always happy to remind you that life was what you made of it. She was the epitome of “survival of the fittest.” She will be greatly missed, but her legacy and strength will live on through all those whose lives she impacted.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Shannon and the CHSLD Vigi Reine-Élizabeth for providing excellent and compassionate care for Agnes towards the end of her life.

Service to take place at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex. Condolences will be held on June 2, 2018 at 9 am. Funeral service to take place at 10:00am, followed by the burial. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Agnes’ memory to Les Amis de la Montagne (https://www.lemontroyal.qc.ca) would be appreciated.

My Mother will be extremely missed by all her family and close friends.

She knew that the way to everyone's heart was their stomachs :)

Cooking huge feasts in a snap was nothing of a challenge to her.

Serving up humour and points of wisdoms while you ate was always welcomed.
Sometimes it could be very pointed, but most of the time is was kindly delivered, with a BIG SMILE xoxoxox

The non safe place was always at the card table where she took no prisoners, no matter their age!
These sessions could and normally lasted many hours and even if you wanted to stop she had a way of keeping
you at the table playing.

Contract Rummy: This was the game my Mom got me hooked on and always was made us hopeful a game would start upon our arrival visiting.

I remember a night at 2 am in The Rockie mountains we were waiting together for the hiway go be cleared from a landslide of huge rocks.
We chatted for hours and laughed about past events. This was her way of helping to focus on positivity and get us through the long night.

I wish for peace and "The Gates of Heaven" to be opened wide for her and that all the Angels enjoy Contract Rummy when she teaches them how to play her way.....!

God Bless You Mom xoxoxoxoxox

I will miss you deeply.
Love Richard Driver
